Vintage 1950s Moth / Butterfly brooch featuring filigree detailing. The brooches have two sets of wings which protrude giving the brooch a more pronounced 3D effect.
The butterfly is set in silver gilt, silver gilt is a term used for laying gold over silver.
Filigree is a delicate form of metal work in silver or gold creating a lace effect. This style of jewellery was very popular in Italy and France in the late 19th century.
